Clelia Murphy

Clelia is best known for play­ing the role of ‘Niamh Bren­nan’ in RTÉ’s flag­ship drama series Fair City.

Recent screen cred­its include the role of ‘Brid­get Mur­ray’ in TV series Bor­der­line (Shi­nawil); ‘Orla’ in the fea­ture film Mur­der in G Major (Muse Enter­tain­ment USA); ‘Helen Byrne’ in the sec­ond series of Harry Wild (Acorn TV); ‘Sammy’ in the short film The Life of Lester Wink (dir. Cas­sidy C. Har­ri­son); ‘Maeve Lud­low’ in Doc­tors (BBC). She also plays the role of Georgina in the Chan­nel 5 series Madame Blanc writ­ten by Sally Lindsay.

She recently appeared on stage in the Irish Times The­atre Award-​winning Con­ver­sa­tions After Sex by Mark O’Halloran for the inter­na­tion­ally acclaimed com­pany Thi­sis­pop­baby which had a suc­cess­ful run at the Irish Arts Cen­ter in New York.

She won the hearts of the nation per­form­ing in the 2019 series of Danc­ing With The Stars and starred as the host for the live tour at the INEC Killarney.

Other recent cred­its include the role of ‘Baroness Elsa von Schraeder’ in the UK & Ire­land Tour of The Sound of Music (Bill Ken­wright Pro­duc­tions); the role of Breda in short film Barry directed by John Robert Brown, which debuted at the 2020 Cork Inter­na­tional Film Fes­ti­val; Tof­fee by Ultan Pringle (The New The­atre); Val­ley of The Squint­ing Win­dows (dir. Michael Scott) at The Mullingar Arts Cen­tre); the voice of The Announcer in Olivier Award-​winning play­wright Pat Kinevane‘s Before writ­ten for Fisham­ble; Gym Swim Party by Danielle Gal­li­gan & Gavin Kostick (Dublin Fringe Fes­ti­val); Maeve Binchy’s Light A Penny Can­dle (The Gai­ety The­atre); BOOM by Iso­bel Mahon; the role of ‘Lulubelle LaVelle’ in John Murphy’s tour­ing musi­cal Elvis Is My Daddy and the role of ‘Frau Gabor’ in Spring Awak­en­ing directed by the inter­na­tion­ally acclaimed György Vidovszy.

Film and tele­vi­sion cred­its include the role of ‘Kath­leen Buck­ley’ in the award-​winning fea­ture film Danny Boy (dir. Fer­dia Mac Eanna); ‘Lor­raine’ in Nowhere Fast (RTE 2); Vivi­enne de Courcy’s fea­ture Dare To Be Wild; Jack Conroy’s The Gaelic Curse; and The Badge­man Con­spir­acy (**Under­ground Cin­ema Award — Best Actor**) directed by John Sheri­dan and Paul Valen­tine. Clelia also worked on Grab­bers for Sam­son Films, Par­al­lel Pic­tures’ The Gift of Magi and Stephen Kane’s award-​winning The Crooked Mile.

In 2015 Clelia co-​produced and starred in Jen­nifer Davidson’s award-​winning short Wait­ing For Tom (dir. Ruth O’Looney), which was offi­cially selected to screen at the Gal­way Film Fleadh, Cork, Foyle, Din­gle and Chicago film fes­ti­vals. It also screened in the Irish Film Fes­ti­val Lon­don where it won for Best Short.

Clelia is also one of Ireland’s most expe­ri­enced Voiceover artists with a career that has seen her lend­ing her voice to some of Ireland’s biggest brands and best-​loved shows.

Radio work includes work­ing with John Boor­man on his radio play The Hitlist, Bill Hugh’s Grace, Joe O’Byrne’s Crane and Cather­ine Brennan’s The Guilty Heart. In 2017 she voiced the role of Miss Higgin’s in Kin­sey One Through Five by Veron­ica Coburn, pro­duced by Kevin Reynolds for RTÉ Radio Drama on One.

Clelia trained with the Gai­ety School of Act­ing, Dublin Youth The­atre and also holds an MA in screenwriting.

Clelia is based between Dublin and the UK.
