Frank Laverty

Frank is a London-​based Irish actor.

He was recently seen play­ing the role of Cia­ran in Mer­man series Bad Sis­ters (Apple TV+); Gabe in Sis­terS (IFC Films/​RTÉ); Greg in Emmerdale (ITV) and the role of Michael in Shane Meadow’s The Virtues (Chan­nel 4/​Warp Films).

He started his career as an Abbey player after grad­u­at­ing from drama col­lege in Dublin. He has worked at the Abbey The­atre reg­u­larly over the past 20 years where he has appeared in var­i­ous pro­duc­tions includ­ing The House, Done­gal, Iphi­ge­nia at Aulis, Por­tia Cough­lan, Away Alone, Sour Grapes, The Ham­let Project, The Count­less Cath­leen, Sil­ver­lands, The Win­ter Thief, On The Outside/​On The Inside, The Com­edy of Errors, Famine, Trans­la­tions and Aris­to­crats among others.

Other recent the­atre projects include Out of Joint’s pro­duc­tion of All That Fall by Samuel Beck­ett (dir. Max Stafford Clark) at the Bris­tol Old Vic and Wiltons Music Hall, Lon­don; The Play­boy of the West­ern World (dir. John Crow­ley) at the Old Vic, the role of Pato Doo­ley in Mar­tin McDonagh’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane (dir. Joe Hill-​Gibbins) at The Young Vic, Lon­don and Gai­ety The­atre, Dublin; and A Par­ti­cle of Dread (dir. Nancy Meck­ler) with the Field Day The­atre Company.

Fur­ther the­atre work includes A Skull in Con­nemara, Philade­phia Here I Come, Sil­ver­lands, Song of The Yel­low Bit­tern and At Black Pigs Dyke (all with Druid); Words of Advice for Young Peo­ple and Dream of Autumn (Rough Magic​) and The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Bel­fry (Livin Dred’).

A well-​known face in Irish and UK tele­vi­sion, Frank has appeared in pro­duc­tions includ­ing Doc­tors and Casu­alty (both for the BBC) Glen­roe, Rebel Heart, On Home Ground, Love is the Drug, Star­dust, An Gaeltacht, Pure Mule, Single-​Handed and Raw all for RTÉ. His film cred­its include roles in Neil Jordan’s Michael Collins; The Abduc­tion Club; The Closer You Get; John Boorman’s The Gen­eral; Noble directed by Stephen Bradley and the Jimi Hen­drix biopic All Is By My Side directed by John Ridley.
