Michael James Ford

Michael recently com­pleted film­ing the role of Bran Dono­van in Irish Blood for Dead­pan Pictures/​Acorn TV. He also wrapped film­ing on the Hall­mark fea­ture Reluc­tant Royal as Jef­fers, This Is Not a Mur­der Mys­tery as Super­in­ten­dent Coney, and the role of Lawrence Langner in the fea­ture film Blue Moon for Sony Pic­tures, directed by Richard Linklater.

Other recent screen cred­its include the role of Lau­rence Cavendish in the detec­tive series Harry Wild along­side Jane Sey­mour, Nigel in Verdi­gris, Mau­rice Blenner­has­set in Dead Still for Dead­pan Pic­tures, Nigel Fitz­james in the sec­ond series of the RTÉ legal drama Strik­ing Out, the role of Crouch in Declan Reck’s fea­ture film The Flag, the RTÉ series Brid­get and Eamon, the role of Sir Leonard Figg in Char­lie, directed by Kenny Gle­naan for RTÉ/​Touchpaper, Penny Dread­ful for Show­time, Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie, and Julian Jarrold’s Becom­ing Jane.

On stage, Michael was last seen as Scrooge in his own adap­ta­tion of A Christ­mas Carol at the Viking The­atre and The K Club. He also appeared as Harold Pin­ter oppo­site Barry McGovern’s Samuel Beck­ett in the Bewley’s Café The­atre pro­duc­tion of Stumped.

Other recent stage roles include Creon in X’ntigone for Prime Cut at MAC The­atre Belfast and the Abbey The­atre and Lord Capulet in Romeo and Juliet at The Mill The­atre Dun­drum. Addi­tion­ally, Michael por­trayed Frank in a revival of The Lyric Theatre’s pro­duc­tion of Edu­cat­ing Rita, directed by Emma Jor­dan, which toured Ire­land in 2017. Prior to that, he appeared in the role of Gra­tiano in the Abbey Theatre’s pro­duc­tion of Oth­ello, directed by Joe Dowl­ing. Fur­ther the­atre cred­its include the Gate Theatre’s pro­duc­tion of Romeo & Juliet, directed by Wayne Jor­dan, Ver­dant Pro­duc­tions’ Borstal Boy, directed by Conall Mor­ri­son at the Gai­ety The­atre, and the Lyric Theatre’s pro­duc­tion of How Many Miles to Babylon.

Michael is also an expe­ri­enced voiceover artist (com­mer­cial and radio drama).

Michael is based in Dublin.
