Pea Din­neen

Pea Dinneen

Pea Din­neen is a play­wright, cabaret artist and lyri­cist based in Dublin. Much of her work dis­cusses trans­gen­der iden­tity in con­tem­po­rary Ireland.

She has been awarded both the Markievicz Award and the Next Gen­er­a­tion Artist Award by the Arts Coun­cil of Ireland.

Cur­rently, she is devel­op­ing her auto­bi­o­graph­i­cal cabaret play Pea Din­neen: Rais­ing Her Voice with sup­port from The Abbey the­atre, Project Arts Cen­tre and the Arts Coun­cil of Ire­land. The show will open in 2025, funded by the Arts Coun­cil of Ireland.

As a facil­i­ta­tor, Pea led the Trans­form­ing Stages devel­op­ment pro­gramme with Out­burst Queer Arts Fes­ti­val, the first the­atre men­tor­ship pro­gramme on the island of Ire­land specif­i­cally for trans artists.

As a cabaret artist, Pea is the co-​founder of award-​winning queer cabaret col­lec­tive EGG.

Cur­rently she serves as Chair­per­son of Irish The­atre Institute’s Equal­ity, Diver­sity and Inclu­sion coun­cil, and as Wel­fare Offi­cer with Praxis the artists’ union of Ireland.

Pea is a Next Wave Play­wright with The Abbey the­atre 2024/​2025.
